5 Beauty Hacks Using Apple Cider Vinegar

Believe to or not but I was introduced to apple cider vinegar last year and when I was sailing with my husband. You have to get really creative onboard to find health supplements since you can only carry a limited amount of medication due to customs regulations so a senior of my husband gave me insight into the countless health & beauty benefits of ACV

A few health benefits that come with regular consumption of ACV is weight loss, improved digestion, boosted immunity, less fatigue and prevention of issues like warts, varicose veins and even body odour.

While the list of beauty benefits is even longer, today I am going to tell you all about some of my favourite beauty hacks using apple cider vinegar along with some other amazing stuff that you can easily find in your kitchen or your vanity

Ditching Dandruff

Apple Cider Vinegar has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties which makes it the perfect remedy for keeping dandruff in check. This hack was a lifesaver for me during my sailing because the salt in the air aggravated my dandruff to an extent that I felt like a monkey as I was constantly scratching my scalp.

All you need to do is mix equal parts of AVC and water and massage it into your scalp. Wrap your hair with a towel or cover it with a shower cap and leave it for about an hour followed by your normal hair wash routine.

Foot Soak

Smelly feet giving you a headache during the summers? Do not worry my friends because all you need is a quick ACV soak. Add two parts of water to one part of ACV and soak your feet in the mixture for about 15-20 minutes. This soak not only gets rid of the stinky feet problem but also leaves your feet soft and clean.

Facial Toner

This tip was shared by a chatty friend of mine ( you know who you are) who has a super sensitive acne prone skin. I do not have a sensitive skin but my struggle with acne is real particularly during the hotter months so I decided to give it a go and trust me, this hack put a lot of expensive toners I have used in the past, to shame. Mix two parts of water with one part of ACV and apply it over the face with a cotton pad daily after your normal cleansing routine and you will notice your skin feeling softer and cleaner than usual.

Detoxifier

Apple Cider Vinegar has antibacterial and exfoliating properties which help in getting rid of all that dead skin cells and skin impurities which comes hand in hand with having an oily skin type.

ACV acts as a perfect detoxifier for your skin and all you need to do is mix it with your normal face pack. Do not underestimate the effect this simple hack can have on the health of your skin because you will see the difference after just a couple of uses.

Brush Cleanser

If you are a makeup lover, you know what a struggle finding a good brush cleanser is. I have tried so many different kinds of brush cleanser that I can pretty much write a whole section on the blog regarding how dismal most of them have been.

To be fair, I am kind of brush cleanser snob because I have so many expectations that one product needs to fulfil so obviously nothing proves to be good enough until I tried Apple Cider Vinegar.

It not only cleans your brushes without drying out the bristles but also sanitises them due to the antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. I just mix 1/4th cup plain water with 1-2 teaspoon of ACV and soak my makeup brushes in this mixture for about 10-15 minutes and rinse them off with plain water.
