5 Beauty Hacks Using Strawberries

I don’t know why but it feels like forever since I posted a skincare hack on the blog. I could only carry a limited number of skincare products when I went to sail with hubby dearest and I did not have the luxury to go and buy a skin or hair mask from a drugstore since I was in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

The good thing was that I had access to alot of fruits so I experimented with alot of beauty hacks and one of favorite fruit for such hacks was strawberry. Strawberry is a really yummy fruit and I love my strawberry milkshakes/desserts particularly my chocolate covered strawberries but this tiny little fruit is also full of antioxidants, alpha hydroxy acid which is pretty much a oily skin girls best friend and loads of vitamins.

I think the intro has become a little to long so I am not going to waste any more time and share m favorite beauty hacks using strawberies

Banish Puffy Eyes and Face

The alpha hydroxy acid I was talking about when I was praising this fruit is basically this magical fruit has natural astringent properties so it counters any kind of puffiness and redness. My eyes are usually really puffy in the morning and don’t even get me started how puffy my face gets after a long night so this particular hack was a favorite of mine.

To counter puffy eyes,  jut take refrigerated strawberries and cut them into thick slices and place them over your eyes for around 15 minutes. To counter puffiness of the face, smash 2-3 strawberries roughly to make a chunky paste ( do not make a puree) and apply it to your face. You need to keep the paste on for 20 minutes and wash it off with cold water.

Dismiss Dead Skin & Blackheads

Exfoliation is the best way to get rid of dead skin so when it came to getting rid of the dryness around my cheek area and the pesky blackheads on my nose, I whip up this quick scrub. You need 4-5 strawberries and make a thick puree, add 2 teaspoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Massage this mixture on the problem areas preferable before a bath because this is a messy hack. Follow this up by washing a mild face wash to get rid of the sticky feeling , followed by a generous application of your favorite moisturizer.

Save the Hair

All the salt in the air and the water did not do me any favors during my trip so my hair was something that required extra care. Strawberries are great sources of vitamin C, magnesium and silica that encourages iron absorption, reduces hair fall, prevents split ends, promotes hair growth and helps control dandruff.

For the hair mask, you need 6-7 strawberries, 2 tablespoon of coconut oil and 1 tablespoon honey. Mix the ingredients together in a blender to get a smooth paste. Apply this paste to your scalp and hair length. Leave it on for 20 minutes, post which you can wash your hair with your regular shampoo and cold water.

Flawless Skin

Strawberries contains salicylic acid and ellagic acid which counter hyper pigmentation and dark spots. The salicylic acid also helps in controlling acne and tightens the pores. For someone who is busy and doesn’t have the time to make the fancy face masks or for some lazy beauty treatment, all you need to do is to get a thick slice of strawberry and rub it on your face. I usually try and do this twice a day every alternative day to get rid of the pigmentation around my lips and prevent acne.

Pearly White Teeth

Nothing beats a nice smile but with the zillion cups of coffee I chug down each day, maintaining that billion dollar smile is not easy. Also, I love wearing bright and dark lipsticks which accentuate any yellowness of my teeth so I am a bit obsessed with keeping my teeth clean and shiny.

Using strawberries is one of the easiest way to ensure your teeth remain all bright and white. All you need to do is rub half a strawberry back and forth against your teeth and repeat the process for a minute. Not only is this one of the easiest teeth whitening hack  have ever tried, it is actually effective and doesn’t leave any kind of a bad after taste.
