Âme – The Soul A/W 2013 Couture Collection By Payal Jain

On 15th November, Payal Jain showcased her beautiful couture collection-  Âme at the poolside lawns of the Hyatt Regency in New Delhi. Âme- The Soul is a collection inspired by the mystery of divine love & complete surrender.
The Collection showcased  floating ivory chiffon’s and milky georgette’s, speckled with precious crystals and pearls dancing in abundant joy and happiness in asymmetric layers and fluid, romantic silhouettes…sometimes clinging to the curves and contours of the body, sometimes flowing freely, like the wild uncontrolled gusts of wind, deep in the heart of the desert.

Treatments were minimal, abstract and the silhouettes explore various horizons from East to West, from North to South, from life to death! Fabrics, textures and weaves blend seamlessly  together like the vast spectrum of human emotions – from love to passion, agony to ecstasy, pain, anger, heartbreak and infinite waves of joy, crashing upon the tender heart.

The collection was sculpted in shimmery embroideries and elaborate weaves, interpreted in motifs inspired by peace, serenity, salvation and the draped sensual silks were interspersed with rustic motifs appliquéd in delicate laces, painstaking hand embroideries, brushed with a sprinkling of precious, crystals, pearls and glass beads.  The sparkling whites of the sunlit hours blend into the intense hues of orange as if wiping away the landscape with the last ray of the sun, spilling into the midnight blue and the dark black depths of the seductive night!!
Models like Carol Gracious, Rachel, Sonalika Sahay, Indrani Das Gupta, Nayanika Chatterjee, Krishna Somani walked the ramp on soulful live music by Kutle Khan (coke studio fame) and the ramp also witnessed graceful dance performance by Gilles Chuyen.

Overall, the collection was simple yet sensual with romance at the core. Payal Jain truly created a reflection of the “inner soul”, ageless, invincible, untouched & pure.
