Bio Oil: Review

Bio Oil is one name that you see every other day in various beauty and fashion magazines so I was obviously excited and intrigued to try it when they finally entered the Indian market as it supposed to be the one of the best products out their to get rid of scars ans stretch marks. Did it live up to its claim…well read on to find out 🙂

Price: Rs. 450 for 60 ml
What the company has to say about the product:

Bio Oil” a specialist skincare oil that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone. It is also effective for aging and dehydrated skin. Bio Oil has won 150 skincare awards and has become the No.1 selling scar and stretch mark product in 17 countries since its global launch in 2002. Bio Oil claims to work on Scars, Stretch Marks, Uneven Skintone, Aging Skin and Dehydrated Skin.

Bio Oil comes in pale orange plastic bottle with an orange cap. Its a nice sturdy packaging and I faced no issues carrying it around.

The oil is a transparent runny liquid with a light oily texture. Its non sticky and has a faint floral fragrance which fades after a few minutes of application
Bio Oil is supposed to work wonders against three skin problems: stretch marks and scars , fine lines and dry skin. Now I don’t have any signs of ageing as yet so I couldn’t test the claim about fine lines but I do have a fair share of stretch marks and dry skin patches so I tested this product in these areas.

I have been using the oil on my stretch marks twice a day for the past two months and yes I do see a difference but its not a jaw dropping difference, the stretch marks are just less prominent.
When it came to testing the moisturizing claim of this oil, I was a little hesitant as I have an oily acne prone skin and applying oil on my face is the last thing I wanted to do. Anyhow, I substituted my regular day and night cream with the bio oil for a month. It did not break me out, did not leave my skin overly oily and it lightened the few acne scars i had on my cheeks. It kept my skin moisturized for almost 7-8 hours but I think it will be a little light for people with dry skin. The only thing that you need to keep in mind while using this oil on your face is that you have to be careful with the quantity otherwise you’ll be left with a greasy face.
Overall, I have to say I am not disappointed with the product. It delivers what it claims and even though when you look at the size of the bottle, you feel its too expensive but the quantity you need per use is soo teeny tiny that the 60 ml will last you months.
