Catrice Volumizing Lip Booster in Pink Up The Volume: Review and Swatches

I absolutely used to hate lip glosses at one time because like most of my friend and teenager, I was wearing it on its own. Slowly and eventually ( read after watching zillion YouTube videos), I realized the right way to a lip gloss and as they say, there was no looking back from there on. The latest addition to my humble collection of lip glosses is the Catrice Volumizing Lip Booster. This was again part of a small makeup haul that my sister-in-law did for me from her recent trip to Europe. I haven’t used any product from this brand before so I was obviously intrigued and did not waste any time in testing it out.

Price: £ 4.90 for 0.17 oz

The Catrice Volumizing Lip Booster comes in a tube packaging with a transparent body and a metallic cap that has the applicator attached to it. The packaging is pretty sleek so you can carry it around easily without any issues. The applicator has a dome shape which is not the best thing when it comes to applying the product particularly when you need to get to those edges.

The formula of the gloss is on the thicker side and its pretty moisturizing so you don’t need to wear any kind of lip balm under it. The packaging does mention that it has menthol which gives a slight tingling sensation and a bit of cooling effect which I definitely like a lot.

The lip booster is available in 3 shades – 010, Pink Up The Volume and Nuts About Mary. The shade I got is Pink Up The Volume which contrary to its name is more peach than pink. The shade has very pale pink undertones but they do not show up if you have pigmented lips. The lip gloss on its own is not that pigmented either so you can wear it over any lip gloss without changing the shade. The lip gloss does accentuate my lips and makes them look a little fuller but it’s nothing drastic.

The staying power of the lip gloss is around 3-4 hours post which I have to apply it again and doesn’t survive meals. I have to very careful of stray hair strands when I am wearing this gloss because this product is like a windy day nightmare.

Overall, it’s a decent product which gives a nice little shine and makes the lips appear fuller. I won’t say this is the best lip gloss I have ever used and I am definitely not a fan of the sticky texture but I like the fact that I can use it as a clear gloss over any lipstick of my choice. Not something you have to have but a decent option if you are looking for a clear gloss.
