Covergirl Outlast All-Day Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation In 840 Natural Beige: Review, Swatches & FOTD

The only thing I do not like about buying makeup from drugstores in the states is that there are no testers and I have to rely on my eyes under the store lighting to guess and find the shade I want. This works for lipsticks but it is such a pain when it comes to base products. Now I had vowed to never buy base products from drugstores but when I saw the Walmart stocked with the new version of the Covergirl Outlast All-Day Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation, I couldn’t resist myself. After doing some R&D online with the swatches, I finally decided to take what can be best described as a leap of faith and bought this foundation in the shade 840 i.e. Natural Beige. Did I make the right choice? Read on to find out.

Packaging

The new Covergirl Outlast All-Day Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation comes in a glass bottle packaging with a black pump dispenser. The dispenser has a lock mechanism and a plastic cap to protect it. The packaging is very user friendly and you can travel with it without the fear of creating a mess in your travel bag. The transparent glass ensures that  you know how much product is left. Overall, no complains with the packaging in any of the general areas.

Product & Texture

The foundation has a thick liquid like texture. The texture ensures that you can blend the foundation without too much effort. The texture is quite creamy but not heavy so you can layer it up easily.

The foundation settles into matte finish even though the company doesn’t label it as a matte foundation. The product is supposed to keep the skin shine-free so I guess it does that by giving a matte finish.

My Experience

This revamped version of the outlast all-day stay fabulous 3 in 1 foundation claims to have the lasting power of primer, coverage of a concealer and blend-ability of a foundation.

Now it doesn’t really come through with its primer claim as you do need to wear a good moisturizer under it or else the foundation will accentuate any dry patches. The product does give a smooth finish thanks to the texture.

In terms of coverage, the foundation gives a medium coverage that can be built up. The foundation is light enough to be layered without causing too much problem. It blends really easily and if you do not have drastic marks or pigmentation in the under eye area, you do not need to wear a concealer with it.

I have no complains in the blend ability area whether you are using a brush, a beauty blender or the good old fingers. The texture gives you the freedom to blend the product really well without leaving any patches.

An added bonus is the presence of SPF 20. I was quite skeptical about the presence of SPF in the foundation because it usually means that either the consistency is going to be really thick or it ends up leaving a whitish cast under the flash light. Thankfully, neither of these things are an issue with this foundation so I can skip wearing an additional layer when I am doing up my base.

The only issue I have with this foundation is that it does oxidize a little bit so I would advice to buy a shade that is slightly lighter than you actual shade.

Final Verdict

I am pretty fond of this foundation however I am not sure it will work well for dry skin. It is a good and reliable option for normal and oily or oily combination skin type. Finding the right shade might be a challenge but other than that, I would recommend trying this foundation for sure.
