Essence Lip Liner in Wish Me A Rose: Review and Swatches

This year my focus was to use everything I buy considering last year, around this time I threw away a bag full of unused stuff that was just lying around unnoticed. I am proud to say that the only makeup that I threw away this year was almost finished and about to expire ( giving myself a pat on the back as I type this :p) . I was also determined to introduce new brands to the blog this year and one of them was Essence Cosmetics. Even though the first product I had bought ended up washing me out, I was determined to try more stuff so I ordered the Essence Lip Liner in the shade Wish Me A Rose.

Price: $1.99

This Essence Lip Liner comes in a standard wooden pencil form with a transparent plastic cap to protect the tip. You have to sharpen the pencil to get the nice little tip needed to line those edges around the lips but the pencil doesn’t come with a sharpener so you have to carry one around. I am not very fond of carrying sharpeners around so would have preferred a retractable pencil but overall the rest of packaging is pretty decent and the cap stays in place so I don’t have to be worried when I am carrying it around.

The texture of the lip liner is really smooth so I don’t have to put in much effort and goes on like a dream. The lip liner is pretty creamy, blends well but it does require a little bit of preparation otherwise the lip liner accentuates dry patches.

Coming to the shade, Wish me a Rose is a dusty pink with a semi-matte finish. The color is a little light for my skin tone so it does washes me out a bit but that doesn’t stop me from appreciating that the shade is absolutely stunning. The staying power is average and the lip liners lasts for a 2-3 hours.

Overall, I like the product and I think it is a good option if you are looking for a budget friendly lip liner. The only downside is that the lip liner is pretty creamy so the tip becomes blunt very easily and I have to sharpen it frequently which obviously leads to product wastage.
