Faces Ultimate Pro Long Wear Matte Lipstick in Temptation: Review, Swatches and FOTD

It has been almost a year since Faces Cosmetics has made an appearance on this blog. Honestly for a while I completely forgot about this brand because they were not really coming up with anything interesting. However, in the past few months…they launched some products that caught my attention and I did a major haul from their counter. The latest launch includes two lip products…the Ultimate Pro Long Wear Matte Range and Ultra Moist Lipsticks.  I picked one from each range…tried the matte one first and I am going to talk about it today.

Price: Rs 699 for 2.5 gms.

Ingredients: Not mentioned

The Faces Ultimate Pro Long Wear Matte Lipstick comes in this pen like black packaging. It actually reminds me of those black permanent markers I use to draw with as a kid so be careful if you carry it around min your bag…you can easily confuse  it with a pen :p. The packaging does look and feels a little cheap but its not flimsy and completely travel friendly.

I saw alot of great shades in this range…some beautiful pinks but I resisted them and decided to experiment a a little and buy I color I normally wouldn’t and that Temptation. Temptation is a strong maroon with brown undertones and definitely not a color for the faint hearted.

The texture of these lipstick is amazing. It is so light on the lips and feels like butter when you apply it. When you apply it, initially it gives a creamy finish which turns into matte after a few minutes of application. I have tried my fair share of matte lipsticks but trust me this one is by far my favourite in terms of the texture. It just glides on your lips and you don’t feel any kind of tugging or pulling while applying.  It did not dry out my lips at point of time…but yes its not that moisturizing that you can skip wearing lip balm under it.
In the pigmentation department…these lipsticks get straight As. Even the lightest of the shades are so pigmented and temptation is like such a strong color that even after you have toned it down…it still leaves a pretty strong stain . The staying power is another good thing about this lipstick. It doesn’t budge for 5-6 hours and even when it fades it leaves a very strong tint behind.  It survived numerous coffee breaks and even my lunch so its safe to say that it when it comes to the pro long stay claim…this lipstick passes with flying colors.

Even though I love everything about the lipstick…there are a couple of things I did not like. The first was the price tag…when the SA told me its for 700 bucks…I was like dude this Faces…isn’t  this brand supposed to be easy on the pocket. The next thing is the fragrance….its so strong and really unpleasant. Thankfully it goes away after a few minutes and I can enjoy this beautiful color on my lips without feeling the need to to pinch my nose to avoid the fragrance 😛
Quick look at the Yays and Nays

  • Doesn’t dry out the lips
  • High pigmentation
  • Great staying power
  • Packaging feels a little cheap
  • Unpleasant fragrance
  • Expensive
Here is how it looks on me

Overall I loved this lipstick. I just wish it had a nice fragrance and it did not cost 700 bucks…but then again its working so well for me that I am thinking of buying one of those pink shades I saw. If you are matte lipstick lover…do try this range…you will not be disappointed.
