Forest Essentials Mysore Sandalwood & Nagkesar Facial Treatment Masque: Review

Well if you have been a follower since the beginning, I think you might have noticed that my obsession with makeup has slowly transitioned to an even bigger obsession with skincare. Don’t get me wrong, I still love makeup but I am just more curious to see what skincare products work for me best and lately my cart has more skincare stuff than makeup products.

This obsession has obviously been fueled by finding brands like Forest Essential that pretty much never disappoint me. I have a bunch of Forest Essentials stuff lying on my vanity but that doesn’t stop me from trying something new everytime I visit their store. This time it was all about clay masks because well my oily combo skin turns into an oil rig around this time of the year. So I decided to try the Forest Essentials Mysore Sandalwood & Nagkesar Facial Treatment Masque because well sandalwood on my face sounds divine when its just April and the temperature is already touching high thirties.

Price: Rs 1650 for 50 gms

The Forest Essentials Mysore Sandalwood & Nagkesar Facial Treatment Masque comes in a glass tub with a golden cap. I love how luxurious the packaging looks but I am not a big fan of the glass packaging because glass packaging and clumsy me are not a good match.

Texture & Product

The masque has a wet clay mask texture with a paste-like consistency. It is not grainy or has any exfoliating particles and spreads easily on the skin. The product has a really nice and soothing sandalwood scent and relaxes me instantly.

My Experience

The mask has a wet texture so I do not have to add anything to it. I usually exfoliate my face before I apply the mask and use a face mask brush to apply an even layer on my face. I generally keep the masque on for 10-15 minutes till it dries completely and wash it off with cold water.

The masque washes off easily and doesn’t leave any residue on the skin. I  was expecting a little bit of an exfoliating effect but that did not happen since the texture is too smooth and the product turns into a fine paste when I use water to remove it.

Post application, my skin feels really clean and smooth. It does add a glow to my skin and makes my skin feels less oily which is one of the reasons I love clay masks. Also, I have lately noticed that there are few open pores around my nose area, this masque helps in minimizing their appearance.

I was a little disappointed to see that it did not do much for my pigmentation and discoloration but I did see a little difference in m tanning. The masque improved the general state of my skin but when you are spending such big bucks, you kind of expect miracles.

Final Verdict

All in all, it is a good product and gives instantly relaxes you after a long day but I did expect it to have a wow factor that would make it better than the other clay mask I have used from other brands. I am not disappointed and I love to use this masque but I kind of wanted more.
