Happy New Year and What I Learned in 2018

Happy New Year!!!

45

This year has been pretty fantastic. I was travelling for the most part of it, my sister got married, I went to Disneyland and so much more. If 2019 is even half as awesome as 2018 than it’s going to a good year.

Like every year, I kind of did a retrospect on all the highs and lows and what I learned from each experience. Here are a few things I learned in 2018

Sometimes too many voices are too many

One thing people love to do is tell everyone else how to live their lives. I used to be an advice seeker but somewhere in the middle of last year, I realized I was losing my voice in all the voices I was listening to.

I am not saying I am against listening to and learning from someone who has more experience than me but I finally took the noise in my life down a few notches, trusted my own gut and was able to get back to working on things that are important.

Goodbye to toxic relationships

I don’t like to work in grey areas so when I do something, I put in all I have in it or not do it at all. Having said that, I am overtly emotional so when it comes to people, letting go of relationships is not my strongest quality.

I do believe in giving second chances, hashing out grievances and then moving on but I believe more in the kind of energy a person exudes. So this year I worked on removing negative energy and toxic relationships from my life and it did wonders for my state of mind.

This was not an easy change to implement since relationships are never exclusive and not only affect the people in it but also the people around it but I am proud that I did it, at least to some extent. It felt liberating to say the least and the best part was that the others who got affected, supported and encouraged me to do the same.

Your Path Changes And That Is Okay

If last year, you would have told me that I would leave my well paying and exciting career to be a homemaker and sail with my husband, I would have rolled on the floor laughing. But that is exactly what I did this year and I was surprised more than anyone I know.

I always thought that I knew where my life was supposed to go and I had the whole plan in my head. I am a planner so change freaks me out but this year I learnt that change is good. It’s good to have a plan but there is no need to have a nervous breakdown if the plan changes. You have the right to leave the path you are in and go towards a new direction. I did and I enjoyed every bit of it!!! I am super excited to experience all the new adventures this new path brings on for me!!!!

I have so many new things planned for 2019 and I am excited to see how they work out!! 2018 gave me really fun adventures and I made so many fond memories and I hope I can continue to do the same this year as well.
