Himalaya Herbals Nourishing Body Lotion: Review

Even though Himalaya Personal Care was a brand that I have been using since I was a teenager, I have recently rediscovered my love for it. I have always found it to be one of the most reliable brands when it comes to my skin care. So when I was forced to do a lot of last minute packing as I was joining my husband on board this time around, picking up the Himalaya Herbals Nourishing Body Lotion was a no brainer.

I have been using this lotion diligently for the past few months and today I am going to tell you all about it.

Price: Rs 140 for 200ml

Himalaya Herbals Nourishing Body Lotion comes in a white rectangular shaped plastic bottle with a dark green flip top cap. I like how light but sturdy the packaging is at the same time.It is very travel friendly as well. The only complain I have with the packaging is that once you are done with the a quarter of the bottle, you need to squeeze the bottle to get the right amount of the lotion.

I have nothing against squeezing out products but the bottles need to be made for that purpose which this bottle is clearly not. I am particularly annoyed by this right now as I am almost at the end of the one I have.

Texture & Product

The lotion has a really creamy texture and is pretty light weight. I am not very fond of thick body lotions as I have to put in a lot of effort to massage it in.

This product is formulated with winter cherry and aloe vera and so is the fragrance. It has a very fruity fragrance mixed with faint notes of aloe vera. The fragrance appears to be really strong when you sniff the bottle but it gets mild when you apply the product.

My Experience

As I mentioned earlier, Himalaya products usually work really well with my skin type and this lotion was no exception. The light texture is very useful when it comes to blending in the product. It also gets absorbed into my skin a matter of minutes.

My body skin is a bit dry compared to my face so when it comes to my body lotions, I need that extra kick of moisture. This lotion does keep my skin nourished and moisturised for good 6-7 hours post which I need to reapply it.

Having said that, I do have a few concerns regarding this lotion. The product has no SPF so I have to add another layer of product which basically counters the benefit of light texture. This did not prove to be an issue for me for the past few months as I don’t mind skipping on sunscreen when I am sailing.

Also, this is a very light weight product so it is ideal for someone with oily-normal skin however it won’t be to effective if you have extremely dry skin. I have had issues with dryness since I am in air conditioning 24X7 when I am sailing and the lotion was able to counter. But I am not too sure about its efficacy when the temperature is really low

Final Verdict

Overall, the lotion did turn out to be a pretty decent product. It doesn’t claim a lot of things and delivers on everything that it is supposed to do. I was happy with the results I got however it is not something you can use when it’s really cold or if you have particularly dry skin.

For me, I think this has become a good option when it comes to finding a body lotion for summers or monsoon season when you want something light and when I am sailing and don’t need to much sun protection.
