Homemade Face Packs For Oily Skin

  • Crying babies in a movie hall…I love babies but not when I am watching a movie…I definitely feel like killing them ( and their parents :p) for this
  • Long queues in front of the trial room and then the check out counter.
  • Big aunties and their ” Adjust karlo beta” in the metro :p
  • Companies discontinuing my favorite products 
  • The way my oily skin becomes all the more oily and difficult to manage in the hot and humid monsoon season.
While I can’t really do anything about the first four things except rant a little , the skin problem is something that I can manage with a little help of some ingredients available in my kitchen.
Besan- Haldi Ubtan

This is the most simple and effective face pack for oily skin. Just mix 1-2 tbsp. of chickpea flour, 1/4th tbsp. of turmeric, 1 tsp. of yogurt and juice from 1/2 a lemon to make a smooth paste. Apply it for 15-20 minutes and wash off with cold water.

The chick pea flour or besan helps in  getting rid of dead skin, turmeric or haldi helps in getting rid of acne and pimples, yogurt moisturizes the skin and lemon acts as a natural bleach and helps in getting rid of tanning and also prevents the secretion of excessive oil.

Oats-Lemon Face Mask

Oats are really good for oily skin. It not only helps in getting rid of the excessive oil produced by the skin but also acts a mild exfoliating agent.  Take 2-3 tbsp. of oats, grind them to make a oat flour which has slightly coarse texture. Mix this with 1 tbsp. of yogurt, the neem leaves and 2-3 tbsp. of lemon juice to form a thick paste.

Apply it on your face and let it dry. When you are washing it of, exfoliate your skin by moving your fingers in small circular motion.

Green tea-Sugar Scrub

The catechins present in green tea have anti-bacterial properties which help in preventing the most common problem of oily skin- acne.  Sugar on the other hand is another great exfoliating agent for the skin. I also add lemon for that extra glow.

Take 1 tbsp. of green tea leaves, add half cup of hot water to it, and let the the tea rest for 10-15 minutes. Once the tea has cooled down a bit, take another bowl and take 2 tbsp. of sugar in it, now add 2-3 tbsp. of the tea to it. Mix them together to form a thick mixture, now add another 1/2 tbsp. of sugar, mix  again and then add 1 tbsp. of lemon juice.
Take a cotton pad and take a small amount of this thick mixture on it and slowly exfoliate your skin with it. Make sure you are not to harsh.

Neem- Yogurt Face Mask

Neem needs no introduction when it comes to its benefits but it is the beauty ka khazana for oily skin. Just boil a 9-10 neem leaves in water for 10-20 minutes and let it sit in the water for a 2-3 hours. Take 1-2 tbsp. of yogurt and 1 tbsp of honey and grind them together to form a smooth paste. Apply this on your face and let it sit for 20-30 minutes and wash it off with cold water.

You can use both the green tea and the water in which neem was boiled as a natural toner.It will help in closing those pores and keeping your skin fresh and oil free πŸ™‚
