Lakme Absolute Creme Lipstick in Bella Rose and Plum Forever: Review and Swatches

Today I am going to talk about two very pretty lipsticks from Lakme Absolute Creme range that I have been using for a while but they somehow got skipped form the list of products scheduled to be reviewed. And as they say better late than never, I am going to keep the introduction short and move straight to the review.

Price: Rs. 650 for 3.2 gms.
The lipsticks from the Lakme Absolute Creme range have the standard Lakme Absolute lipsticks, similar to 9 to 5 and matte ones. The only difference is that they are little bulky than the previous ranges and the packaging has a shiny metallic finish. Lakme has never disappointed me in terms of packaging and the impression continues with these lipsticks as well. I carry them around all the time but haven’t faced any issues.

The texture is creamy and smooth. The lipstick just glides on your lips and leaves you with a satin finish. However what left me confused was that after a few minutes the finish turns into matte. I have come across a zillion lipsticks that claim to be matte and give a  satin finish however this is probably the first creme lipstick that turns matte. It doesn’t really bother me alot because I am kind of a matte lover but in case you aren’t a fan then make sure you test it before you buy it.

These lipstick have such an amazing fragrance. They smell like butterscotch which I love so I look for an excuse to wear these lipsticks and don’t be surprised if you find me sniffing them just for fun ( don’t roll you eyes…I have weird habits :p)

I bought 2 shades from this range- Bella Rose and Plum Forever. Bella Rose is a brown with pink undertones.  Bella Rose  is the perfect day wear lipstick especially if you are minimum makeup kind of a person. You can wear it without getting those “oh my god she is wearing makeup” looks and would suit fair to medium skin tone.

Plum forever on the other hand is a beautiful purple shade. It has this very subtle maroon tinge to it which makes this shade very wearable unlike the general over the top purples. This is one shade that would complement most Indian skin tones.

Both the shades vary in pigmentation. I get a nice opaque layer in a single swipe for Bella Rose however Plum Forever is a little sheer and I have to layer it up to get the shade to show up on my lips. They stay on for almost 4 hours without meals, don’t bleed or settle in fine lines but I did notice a slight transferring problem.

The only issue with these lipsticks is that they tend to feel a little dry and heavy on the lips once they settle into a matte finish. I do work around this issue by wearing a hydrating lip balm underneath as well as on the top of the lipstick.

Final verdict…well I do like these lipsticks. They have some amazing shades available, Bella Rose and Plum Forever being two of them. They are pigmented, smell amazing, stay on for a decent time period and I like the matte texture. The only problem is the dryness and even though it doesn’t affect me alot some people do have extremely dry lips and I don’t think they will be very happy with it.
