Lakme Absolute Lip Pouts Matte Masaba Lip Color in Caramel Toffee: Review, Swatches and FOTD

I know I might be the last person to review this but in my defence, these babies were always out of stock. Luckily I was able to get my hands in them just before I shipped out to sail with my husband for a good few months. Anyways today I am going to talk about Lakme Absolsute Lip Pours Matte Masaba Lip Color in the shade Caramel Toffee.

Price: Rs 750 for 3.7 gms

Packaging

The Lakme Absolsute Lip Pours Matte Masaba Lip Color comes in a twist up packaging with some really funky print on it and a plastic cap to protect tje tip of the product. Masala Gupta, the fashion designer and creator of this range is famous for her quirky prints and you can clearly see her influence in the packaging itself. The tube is pretty sturdy and easy to carry around. The cap stays in place so there are no chances of having an accident in your purse.

Product & Texture

The texture of the lip color is very smooth but a little waxy. It is not one of those products that work both as a balm and a lip color so you do need to prep your lips a bit before application. If you have done that then the product goes on pretty easily and without any tugging or pulling. The product doesn’t feel heavy on the lips once you apply it so there is no issues if you want to layer.

The range has 10 shades but I opted for the shade “Caramel Toffee” as it looked like something I could wear to work or to a party with a nice smokey eye and Is was right. Caramel Toffee is a warm peachy brown which works really well for me. The peach undertones ensure that it works for majority of the Indian skintones and for me it is pretty much a MLBB shade.

Pigmentation and Staying Power

The pigmentation of this lip color is decent & I need two couple of swipes to get the shade that I can see on the bullet on to my lips. If you want to go darker, that is not an issue as well because the product is pretty light in terms of texture so even if you layer you don’t feel that the lip color is sitting on your lips.

TIhe stayong power is definitely better than the pigmentation and the product doesn’t fade for a good 5-6 hours.  I was pretty surprised to see that the color stayed on for so long because the lip color does transfer a bit. It does survive light meals but don’t keep your hopes too high after a proper lunch or dinner.

My Experience

I do like the product in terms of the shade but I think the overall quality is a little disappointing if you compare it with the price the product is retailing at.  You have to make sure your lips are scrubbed and moisturiser otherwise the lip color has a tendency to cling to the dry patches and go on unevenly.

There is no bleeding or feathering and the products gives you a semi matte finish once it settles after application. The top layer of the products remains a bit creamy and transfers all over but you realise that the port.layer has lind of settles in a matte finish so it sticks on to your lips

The biggest downside of using this product is that I need to put in a bit of an effort every time I want to wear this lip color which is not something a lazy girl like me enjoys so I would rather prefer spending my money and time on products that give me a combination of lip balm and lip color in the same bullet and to be honest I already some of those from brands like Revlon and Maybelline.

The shade of this lip color is only thing I really liked about it and the fact that it stays on for around 6 hours saved me from the face palm moment when I realise that I wasted my money on a shitty product.

Final Verdict

I am not very happy with the overall product. I am a huge fan of Lakme and always look forward to their new releases but I have to say I wish I had skipped this one.

The product in general is not to bad but the market has a lot of similar products that offer better quality in the same price. It basically falls short when I compare with the other chubby lip color I have so I honestly see a logic on spending so much money to buy a pretty shade and spend time to make sure I put in more effort to apply it.

If you like funky packaging or you are a Masaba Gupta fan then try it but there are better products our there at the same price.
