L’Oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Extraordinary Oil: Review

If you have been a regular on this blog, you would know there are two things I constantly crib about- my confused combination skin and dry, thin and straight hair. I struggle a lot when it comes to hair products as I have an acute form of seborrheic dermatitis which gets aggravated very easily. Having said that, L’Oreal is one of the few brands that work well for my hair and I have been a dedicated user of their professional range.  Keeping that impression in mind, I picked up a bottle of the recently launched L’Oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Extraordinary Oil. Did it turn out be “extraordinary” or was it just another hair oil? Read on to find out
Price: Rs 193 for 100 ml
Let’s talk about the packaging first.  The L’Oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Extraordinary Oil comes in a golden glass bottle with a screw on cap.  The packaging looks very pretty and fancy however my only concern is that it makes no sense to give glass bottle packaging to hair oil. I know most people aren’t as clumsy as I am but the packaging is just an accident waiting to happen so I would have definitely preferred a plastic bottle.

The oil has golden tinge to it, almost like the packaging. It has a very strong fragrance which doesn’t fade so if you are sensitive to strong fragrances, you are not going to be happy with this product. The good thing about the oil is that it’s pretty light and gets absorbed pretty easily. However, if you apply too much of it, you do end up with limp hair post hair wash.

I have used the oil for a couple of weeks now, but the results have been quite average. It doesn’t really give my hair any extra moisture, shine or fizz control.  Also if you apply too much of this oil (which happened to me when I used it for the first time), it’s a struggle to get rid of it. I washed my hair twice but my hair was still limp and oily. The only positive thing about it was that it did not aggravate my scalp problems
Here is the list of Yays and Nays for this product:
  • Fancy looking packaging
  • Light in texture
  • Gets absorbed easily
  • Doesn’t irritate the scalp

  • Glass bottle= increased probability of having a messy accident
  • Not easy to carry around as its very bulky
  • Has a very strong fragrance that doesn’t fade
  • If you use too much, washing it of is a problem

Overall, for me this product just failed to live up to its claims. I did not see any exceptional results on my hair. I personally don’t find the packaging very user or travel friendly. I usually get better results from a simple olive oil massage than what I did from this oil so I don’t really see a point spending 200 bucks on this.
