L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Lipstick in Fever Brown: Review, Swatches and FOTD

My first brush with makeup like every other girl was a lipstick that I had took from my mom’s vanity.  Even though the first lipstick I tried a brown lipstick, after a lot of disasters…trust me I am not exaggerating… I have enough photographs as a proof, I realised brown is not a color that I can carry very well.
But now that I have entered the world of beauty blogging I have slowly discovered that I don’t need to shy away from any color….just need to know how to make it work for me and that’s exactly what I did when I received this lipstick called Fever Brown from L’Oreal .
Price: Rs 785 for 4.7 gms.
L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Lipsticks come in a really pretty golden bullet. The lipsticks have been divided into groups and the name of the group…brunette in my case along with brand name is present on the bullet. I love the packaging. It is sturdy and it is pretty….yup…we bong love the blingy gold.

Fever Brown is a reddish brown lip color with lots of coppery shimmer particles in it. The shimmer particles are a little too big and visible for my taste and they do tend to remain on the lips once the shade fades off so this color is definitely not something I would wear to work. Personally I have to give a lot of thought when I wear this color. It’s the kind of the color that dusky skin tones will carry off in a better manner than their medium and fairer counter parts but nonetheless I was determined to make this work so I wore it with simple liner on my eyes, a slight peachy blush on the cheeks.
The texture is extremely smooth and buttery. It keeps my lips moisturised and doesn’t feel drying or heavy on the lips. The pigmentation is really good. One swipe and you can cover the most pigmented lips. The staying power is also decent. They last on my lips for 3-4 hours, without meals. When it fades it leaves a very very light tint and lots of shimmer behind. Also the shimmer tends to settle in the fine lines
Here are the swatches and how it looks on me 🙂
The good things about the product:
  • Pretty and sturdy packaging
  • Texture is smooth and buttery
  • Pigmentation is amazing
  • Keeps the lips moisturised
  • Decent staying power

The not-so good things about the product:

  • The shimmer are a little too big and visible so it’s unsuitable to wear during the day or to work
  • The color is a little tricky to work with so trying it out before buying is important
  • Shimmer tends to remain on the lips once the lipstick fades
  • Shimmer tends to settle in the fine lines

I definitely think it’s takes a bit of an effort to work with this color. The shimmer particles definitely don’t make working with it any easier. However I love the texture and how moisturising it is.
