Lotus Herbal Pure Colors Lipstick in Orchid Kiss: Review and Swatches

Even though I am not a big fan of flowers, I can’t really
resist getting attracted to orchids. I think the super bright colors catch my attention and well the lack of that typical sweet floral fragrance
which I absolutely can’t stand.
Anyhow when I placed
the order for Lotus Herbals  Pure Color
Lipstick in Orchid Kiss
, I was imagining some gorgeous bright color but when
I actually swatched it turned out to be another case of people-who-name-lipstick-are- probably-color-blind syndrome.

Price: Rs. 245 for 4.2 gms.

The lipsticks in the pure color range come gold and beige
packaging. The packaging is quite sturdy so feel free to carry it around. The
thing that I don’t like about the packaging is that there is no way to
distinguish between the different shades by looking at the packaging in case
you own more than one of them like I do.

As I mentioned, the name of the lipstick has nothing to do
with the actual shade of the lipstick. When I think about orchids, I think
about pinks and purples but orchid kiss turned out to be a shimmery brown with
pink undertones. The undertones become more visible as you start layering it
but brown definitely dominates this shade. The weird thing is that the bullet looks kind of purple. Even though I was disappointed with the shade, thankfully the shimmer is not the over
the top so I am still able to work with this color but its not the kind of color that will suit everybody so make sure you try it
before you buy it.

The texture of the pure color lipsticks in general is quite
smooth and creamy. They just glide on your lips and give them a moisturized look. It doesn’t settle in fine, do not smudge or bleed. Pigmentation kind of
depends on the shade that you have because the darker shades like Orchid Kiss
are more pigmented than the lighter ones like Peach Carnation.

The thing that I love most about these lipsticks is their
staying power. For a lipstick that is so affordable a staying power of almost 4
is actually quite impressive in my books. They fade after that but they leave
a pink tint behind without any trace of shimmer which is another good thing
about it.

Here are the swatches. Though it looks pink in the swatches thanks to my camera, in person its much more brownish.

The only thing I don’t like about this particular shade is
that I noticed feathering. I was actually surprised to see it because nothing
of this sort happened with any of the other shades I have so I am not sure
whether it only occurs in the darker shades or do I have a defective piece. Let
me know if you have noticed the same 🙂
My final verdict is
that, I like the range but I am not really a big fan of this particular shade. I
love the quality of these lipsticks so I might look at the other shades in the
