Makeup Revolution Lip Amplification in the shade Conviction: Review & FOTD

I have been itching to try Makeup Revolution products for a while but couldn’t justify buying yet another bright colored lipstick, blush or eye shadow before I got done with the huge stock of makeup I had lying around. Eventually, the sneaky shopaholic in me found a way to justify a purchase when I came across the Makeup Revolution Lip Amplification range and bought the shade Conviction. I bought just before fall and have been using it for the past few months so I am ready to talk about it.

Price: Rs 600 for 7 ml

The Makeup Revolution Lip Amplification lip gloss comes in a clear sleek plastic tube packaging with a black cap that has the doe foot wand attached to it. The packaging makes looking for the shade you need quite convenient and the sleek tube ensure that you do not use up to much space when you decide to travel with it.

Texture & Product

The texture of the lip gloss is weightless and spreads well. The doe shaped applicator helps to spread the lipstick easily and layer it if necessary. The lipstick is creamy during application but settles into a more satin ad semi-matte finish after a few seconds.

As I mentioned earlier, one of the excuses I used to buy this particular product was the shade because I do not own anything like Conviction. Conviction is a beautiful dark plum shade with purple undertones. It is one of the darkest lipsticks I own and just about the perfect shade for colder months. It is definitely not a shade for faint hearted because it is more of a in your face kind of shade.

The combination of the shade and the undertones ensure that it works for a variety of skin tones. I am a NC 40 and it looks a bit more plum on me than purple but looks more purple on skin tones fairer than mine and bit more plum on darker skin tones.

Pigmentation and Longevity

When it comes to pigmentation, Conviction is one of the most pigmented lip gloss I own. The pigmentation has a lot to do with the shade as well but after using the other shades from the range, I would say that pigmentation is on the stronger side for the range.

Staying power is pretty good as well and the shade last for a good 6-7 hours. The lipstick does fade after meals but it leaves behind a very strong tint which acts pretty much like a faded version of the original color.

My Experience

Conviction has pretty much been my go to shade this fall. It is definitely something you can wear to work but it is the perfect shade for a night out. The lip gloss does bleed a little if you are not too careful during application and it is little difficult to get to the edges as the doe shape applicator is a bit broader at the top. Once the product settles it, it doesn’t feather or bleed but it would accentuate dry patches if you do not prep your lips before application.

For someone who is a beginner with dark lip shades, just let the lip gloss be the star of your look. For a shade like Conviction, all you need is a nice straight liner nothing dramatic, a very pale colors on the cheek with just a hint of highlight.

Final Verdict

All in all, the lip gloss is definitely a keeper. I love the quality of the product and Conviction is pretty much what defines fall makeup for me. I know it’s a bold shade but if you are into shades that are not your usual pink and red, then I would recommend this for you.
