Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in Cherry Crush: Review, Swatch and FOTD

Maybelline had launched the affordable range of  lipsticks  under the ‘The Color Show’ Range a while back and even though I bought a few shades, I never got around to review them. A few days back, I picked up this gorgeous shade on my vanity and as usual when I checked…I found out that I never reviewed it. The beautiful shade of lipstick that I am finally going to talk about is the Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in the shade Cherry Crush.

Price: Rs. 299 for 3.9 gms.

The Maybelline Colorshow Lipsticks comes in a black lipstick casing with a colored band which indicates shade family of the lipstick however if you have more than one shade then the colored band is not going to help you and you have to look at the bottom of the packaging to find out the name of the shade. The packaging is quite simple but pretty sturdy so I have no complains.

The first shade from the range that I picked and well I absolutely adore is Cherry Crush. Maybelline Cherry Crush is a beautiful cherry pink with slight red undertones. There is something about this color that just instantly brightens up your face and definitely your mood. The shade looks a little different depending on how pigmented the lips are but on my slightly pigmented lips, the shade appears more pink than red.

The lipstick has a really smooth texture and you application is a piece of cake but it is not the most creamy lipsticks I have used. It feels pretty comfortable, doesn’t dry out the lips but it doesn’t moisturizes them either. The lipstick does have a tendency to accentuate dry patches and settle in fine lines so a little lip prep is necessary before application.

Cherry Crush is pretty pigmented but you do need a couple of swipes to get an opaque layer of color on the lips. The finish is quite glossy and creamy so it does transfer but I haven’t noticed any feathering or bleeding. Staying power is around 2-3 hours which is pretty decent for a lipstick that retails at this price.

Overall, I really like the lipstick and absolutely adore the shade. It is definitely one of the best budget lipsticks I have used till date and I can’t wait to share reviews of the other shades I bought. The only thing about the lipstick that I wish was different was that it was a little more moisturizing but that is something work around with a few simple steps. I would totally recommend it particularly to beginners or any one looking to add quality products without breaking their banks.
