Maybelline Colorsensational High Shine Lip Gloss in Captivating Coral : Review and Swatches

I know it has been an year of chubby sticks but well nothing can replace a good lip gloss in anybody’s vanity. I am a huge lipstick addict but I can never resist a good lip gloss so not trying the Maybelline ColorSensational High Shine Lip Glosses that have been recently launched in India was out of question.
As you might have noticed I love pink ( you can say obsessed too if you want :p) but when I went to the Maybelline counter there was this bright orange shade that was screaming for my attention..the shade turned out to  be Captivating Coral ( such an appropriate name..).

Price: Rs 350 for 5 ml.

The gloss comes in what appears to be a clear glass tube with a silver cap but it is actually a double container packaging. The gloss had a label that had the brand name and the name of the shade but you need to peel it of before using it.

The silver cap is attached with a doe-foot applicator. Due to the double container the mouth is little narrow so you might need to take the applicator a couple of times before you get the amount of product you need.

The texture is really smooth and creamy, it feels pretty light on the lips and doesn’t have that sticky feeling that some lip glosses have instead my lips felt moisturized and hydrated. The lip gloss has a citrusy fruity fragrance which stays for a  few minutes.

Coming to the shade Captivating Coral…in the tube it resembles to Fanta to the T. On the lips its more of a coral shade. The lip gloss is a little sheer though. I think its a good thing its a little sheer because then you have the freedom to build the color. To get that bright coral shade you need to apply a couple of layers and because the gloss is so light even when I apply multiple layers, it doesn’t feel uneasy on the lips.

The staying power is not too great. It stays on your lips for around 2 hours even less if you have meals in between. But the great thing about it is that even when it fades, it doesn’t leave the lips dry….you can still feel the moisture in your lips though there is no tint so once the gloss fades your lips are absolutely bare.

The Yay’s:

  • Packaging is really simple
  • Texture is smooth and creamy
  • Feels really blight on the lips
  • Doesn’t feel sticky even when you apply multiple layers
  • Leaves the lips moisturised even after it fades
  • Reasonable priced
The Nay’s
  • Doesn’t stay for more than 2 hours
  • No tint…once it fades the lips are completely bare

I definitely love the color and because its sheer I can build the intensity depending on my mood. The staying power could have been a tad better but then at the end of the day its a gloss which you can easily reapply and at the price its available I think Maybelline has done a really good job.
I am definitely going to try out some other shades from his range.
