Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation: Review, Swatches and FOTD

Maybelline is one of my favorite drugstore brands and everytime they come up with a new launch, I know I have to give it a shot so when they came out with the Fit Me range, I quickly went to the nearest store to pick it up. I ended up picking both the concealer and the foundation from the range and while you might need to wait for the concealer a little longer, I am going to talk about the Maybelline Fit Me Matte+ Poreless Foundation in the shade 230 Natural Buff today.

Price: Rs 525 for 30 ml.

The Maybelline Fit Me Foundation comes in a glass bottle with a black cap. I like the quality and the shape of the packaging but the two things I wish were different are – Glass bottle and secondly a pump dispenser. I am not really bummed about the glass packaging as 90% of the foundations come in a glass packaging but the lack a proper dispenser is definitely not something I like because  the foundation has to be poured out from the bottle which is messy and leads to alot of wastage. I have to make sure I clean the neck of the bottle every time I use it to avoid getting the bottle and my hands dirty the next time I use it.

Texture wise, the Maybelline Fit Me foundation is really smooth and creamy. It is not very runny but light enough to give you a nice finish without putting in too much effort to blend it. It feels super light on the skin and  for this reason the coverage is towards the lighter side but the light texture also ensures that you can build it up without getting a cakey finish. Once the foundation sits on your skin for a few minutes, it does give you a nice slightly matte powder finish which is something any one who has an oily skin would appreciate. Fragrance wise this is one of the few foundations I have used that is unscented so all you guys out there that have a difficult time finding a product that would irritate your sensitivity to strong smells fragrances, go do a happy dance :p

The Fit Me foundation is available in 6 shades in India though I have to say most stores I have been to so not have more than 3 shades available with them. The shade I got is number 230 and is called Natural Buff. I was a little confused between Natural Buff and Sun Beige(310) because they looked really similar when I swatched them but when I did the natural light test ( wearing the foundation on your face and looking at it in natural light) Sun Beige was a little too yellow for my skin tone. I wanted to try the shade 128 which is warm beige but that seems to be unavailable at any of the stores I went to. Natural buff has yellow undertones as well but the foundation is more peachy than yellow so it makes it more suitable for people who have fair to medium skin tone or if you know MAC foundation shades than it works for NC 40-41.

My experience with the foundation has been a little mixed. I love the light texture and how it feels like I have no makeup on my face but it definitely not something I would recommend you to wear if you are going to place where you will be clicked alot because the foundation is not flash photography friendly. It also doesn’t work well with dry patches and tends to accentuate them. I started using this foundation when the temperature was changing so my skin had little dry patches around the corner of my lips and this foundation stuck to it like anything so if you have dry skin or suffer from dry patches, you need to work on your skin before you use this product.

Coming to the poreless and matte effect claim, well it does help with the pore situation but the matte effect doesn’t last for a very long time so I wouldn’t ask you to rely on the foundation alone if you are looking for oil control. The staying power on the other hand is quite decent and it easily lasts for around 4-5 hours after which it does start fading away.

Overall, I wouldn’t say I love this foundation but yes I do like it. I absolutely love the light feeling on my kin whenever I wear it and do not have to be worried about blending it even if I am not carrying any tools like a brush or a sponge to get that perfect finish. I am a little bummed that it doesn’t photograph well but it is a good option if you are looking for a daily wear day foundation. I for one do like to wear it when my skin needs to look a little better than usual but I don’t want to show that I have makeup on. A perfect option for anyone who has normal skin , looking for a budget friendly foundation that would give a natural no makeup look. The rest of us who are not blessed with the perfect skin type need to put in a little bit of effort with the foundation to make it work for us.
