Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 2: Review, Swatches and FOTD

As you might have noticed, I am addicted obsessed with the color pink and even though  my vanity is kind of overflowing with this shade, I always feel there is room for more. Add an affordable brand like Maybelline coming out with a pink based range called Pink Alert to this obsession and well you know the outcome…yup a new pink lipstick in my kitty πŸ˜€ .

Price: Rs 375 for 3.9 gms
The Maybelline Pink Alert Lipsticks come in a very pretty pink and silver packaging. If you own the color sensation lipsticks from this brand then well they have the same packaging except the bright pink caps. I find the packaging very cute and super girly and the bright pink color just screams for attention and makes locating it a very easy task.

These lipsticks have very smooth and creamy texture. I can easily skip wearing a lip balm underneath it as they are very hydrating. The lipstick just glides on your lips, gives a gloss like finish, doesn’t settle into fine lines and you get a even and smooth finish. The downside of this creamy texture is that it feels a little sticky on the lips, transfers alot and bleeds a little

This range came out with 4 version of pink and even though I wanted to buy all of them, I knew I would get the  “another-pink-lipstick” look that my mother and sister and I just picked the prettiest one…POW 2. POW 2 is this bright blue based pink. On the lips, it gives a hint of neon which brightens up your whole face.I know its a common opinion that blue based shades are meant for specific skin tones but that’s not true. All you need to do is learn to work with the color and pair it with the right eye and face makeup.  I usually pair POW 2 with a simple eyeliner look and a dash of pink on the cheeks. For a day look, you can always tone it down a little by blotting the lipstick after application.

Maybelline POW 2 has a decent pigmentation and gives a bright layer of color in a single swipe. I would definitely advice against layering as that just accentuates the bleeding and transfer.

With all the transferring that happens with this lipstick, staying power does tend to remain on the lighter side. It stays on for around 2-3 hours and leaves a very pale tint once it fades.

Lets take a quick look at the Yays and Nays before we see the lip swatches πŸ™‚
