MUA Intense Colour Lip Liner in Red Drama: Review and Swatch

The next item up  for review from my MUA haul is this beautiful lip pencil that I ordered on a whim. I basically had bought a zillion different shades of red before my wedding but it is usually advisable to wear a nice lip pencil under a bright colored lipstick. The problem was that I had already spent a bomb on the lipsticks so I decided to save some bucks on the liner and ordered the MUA Intense Color Lip Liner in the shade Red Drama.

Price: £1 for 1 gm.

The MUA Intense Color Lip Liner comes in a nice sleek pencil packaging where the body of the pencil is of the same color as the shade. The packaging also has a transparent plastic cap that has a built in sharpener. Now I am not really a fan of the cap in terms of the fact that it has a tendency to fall off every now and the but the in built sharpener does come pretty handy while travelling.

The lip liners have a really rich and creamy texture. I usually talk all about exfoliating and prepping your lips before applying a shade like red but this lip liner doesn’t need much work. You do need to wear a nice lip balm under it but unlike a lot of liners I have used, this product doesn’t dry put your lips or feel heavy on it.

The shade Red Drama is a beautiful bright red with very slight pink undertones. It is the in your face kind of red and one of the most prized possessions in my vanity right now. I love the shade and even though it is a little out of my comfort zone to wear such a red on its own, I wear it on its own when I am feeling a little more confident than usual.

I manage the intensity of the lip liner depending on the kind of red I want to over it because the liner is crazy pigmented and if you are not careful it might end up over-powering the shade of lipstick you are wearing over it. Staying power is equally good and on its own, it doesn’t budge for a good 5 hours so you can imagine how long you long lasting or matte lipsticks will last if you wear it on this lip liner. Even though the lip liner has a creamy texture, it doesn’t bleed or settle in fine lines and acts as the perfect base to wear a lipstick.

All in all, I have no complains with this product . I love the shade, the quality is amazing and so is the texture. The only problem is that it is not easy to get your hands on MUA products but if you are able to and you are looking for a nice red lip liner, then Red Drama is a great option.
