Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sun Block SPF 50+: Review

OK…oily skin and sunscreens are not really a good combination. First of all, applying a sunscreen means adding an extra layer on your skin which is obviously the last thing you should do when you have this very annoying skin type. Secondly its pretty useless to apply a sunscreen in a place like Delhi where the temperature is around 45 degrees in summers until and unless the SPF is 40 plus but the 40 plus SPF usually means a heavy texture, a whitish cast, sweating or a shiny face.
I had almost given up on sunscreens and had kind of accepted the fact I should just make do with products that have SPF at least when it comes to the face area. And then out of the blue, while doing my monthly shopping of my skin care essentials, I decided to add the  Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sun Block SPF 50+ to my shopping cart and believe me it has turned out to be one of the best decisions I have taken so far in terms of choosing products for my skin care. What is so special about this sunscreen…well read on to find out 🙂
Price: Rs 499 for 88ml
The Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sun Block SPF 50+ comes in an opaque white plastic tube with a light blue screw lid. The cap is pretty sturdy, it stays in place at all times so you don’t have to keep worrying about any kind of leakage when you carry it around. Tube packaging is obviously very convenient, hygienic and its flexible enough to make sure you can get the product out even when its about to finish.

The sunscreen is a pearly white cream with a thick texture. It has a very mild and pleasant floral fragrance. As the texture of the sunscreen is a little on the thicker side, you do have to work with it on application.  The texture and the effort that goes into the application did leave a bad impression on me the first time I applied this sunscreen but within minutes I realised how wrong I was.
Unlike most sunscreens I have tried, there was no greasy layer on my face, no whitish caste, no sweating and it gave an almost matte finish.I usually cringe at the thought of applying makeup over sunscreen but this just acts as the perfect base and I face no issues with my makeup.

Another positive thing about this product is that it hydrates the skin.  Its not hydrating enough in case you have dry skin but if you have normal or oily skin, you can easily replace your moisturiser with this sunscreen and I can assure you, you will feel no dryness at all.
I know the common advice to avoid tanning is to apply sunscreen every 2 to 3 hours throughout the day but that’s not really possible for me. However, I noticed that even when I just applied it in the morning, the results I got were much better than its counterparts. I wouldn’t say that there was no tanning at all but it definitely brought down the level of tanning that I usually have during the summers.
If I have to summaries my experience with this product in a sentence, I guess I will say that I have found my HG sun screen. It’s just perfect for my skin, fulfils everything it claims and gives me the sun protection I need minus all the greasy feeling that most sunscreens have. If you have been left disappointed with most sunscreens available in the market, give this one a try and I am sure you will love it.
