Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose: Review

When I think of Nivea…I think of those blue round tin packaging with a white cream that had this staple floral fragrance to it. Nivea is trusted name in my household….since I was a kid…I remember using Nivea creams to save my skin against the harsh winters of Delhi. Now obviously Nivea has grown and they come up with a lot of other products….the recent one being the lip butters. They finally launched them India and when I saw the cute packaging they came in…I went back to the good old days and well I picked it up to see if this would live up to the standards this brand has in my mind.

Price: Rs 189 for 19 gms

Ingredients: Cera Microcristallina, Paraffinum Lquidum, Polyglyceryl-3, Diisostearate, Butylrospermum Parkii Butter( Shea Butter), Ricinus Communis Seed Oil (Castor Oil), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil ( Sweet Almond Oil), Aqua, Glycerin, Glyceryl Glucoside, BHT, Aroma, CI 77891, CI 15850.

As I mentioned…the packaging reminded of the packaging Nivea had for its skin care range. These lip balms come in cute flat and round tin containers. I am quite surprised how sleek the packaging is considering the fat that it houses 19 gms.

The lid is stays in place and you don’t have worry about the cap opening while you are carrying it around if you make sure that you close it properly after using….basically you should hear a snap sound when you have closed the lid.
I personally don’t like tub packaging and find them very unhygienic for obvious reasons plus I don’t like the fact that when I try to get the product out of the tub it gets under my nails (we girls and are problems πŸ˜› )
Nivea has launched two variants of these lip butters- Caramel Cream and Raspberry Rose. I picked Raspberry Rose because one it looked like it was tinted and secondly I loved the fragrance. It smells like raspberries with a slight hint of roses

The first thing I noticed about this lip butter was that its so creamy. The texture is so soft that even a little pressure leaves you with a dent in the pan and more than required product on your fingers. On the lips, the lip butter feels very light and gets absorbed within seconds. Though the lip balm looks tinted in the pan…its imparts no color to your lips but if you use too much of it…it leaves a whitish cast
The lip balm keeps my lips hydrated for a while after application. However when I my sister used it on her heavily chapped lips in the hopes of some improvement she was left disappointed. I was very surprised because the ingredients clearly state that it has shea butter and sweet almond oil which is known to treat dryness but after using it for a couple of days I would say its more of a prevent and protect kind of a product rather than repair one so if you are looking for a solution for your chapped lips…this product is not going to help you.

Overall, its a good option if you are looking for something to protect your lips….the fragrance is amazing, the packaging is cute and you don’t need to use much to keep your lips happy so 19 gms will last like forever. The only concern I have regarding this product is that the texture is so soft that I think it will melt and create a mess when the temperature rises but for now I am pretty happy with it.
