NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Bronze: Review, Swatches and EOTD

The problem with us beauty bloggers is that we hoard so much makeup that at times we buy something amazing and completely forget about it. Then one fine day, you are looking for that lipstick or eye liner you know you bought and suddenly you see this one product you were super excited about when you bought it but it’s just  lying there, unused and almost new in your vanity.

When I went to Mumbai…which was like almost half a year back…I picked up some NYX stuff. One of them was the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil and to my horror I hadn’t touched it since I came back. But I was determined to change that and I have been using it like a good girl for the past few weeks thanks to all the wedding that were lined up and today I am going to talk about it

Price: According to NYX Website its $4.50 but they retail at different prices on different places and websites.

What the company has to say about it:

” A radiant eye liner that also doubles as an eye shadow. Made with a blend of mineral oil and powder, our creamy Jumbo Eye Pencils glide on effortlessly—no pulling, tugging or fading—and come in a rainbow of vivid hues. Some call her chubby. We say voluptuous.”

The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils as the name suggest are thick pencil shaped eye liners/ creamy eye shadows with a transparent cap to protect the tip. The packaging is pretty standard….all the shades look like these big markers thanks to the white color but thanks to the transparent cap, you can differentiate the color if you own more than one of these.

I love the texture of these pencils. They are so soft and creamy that they just glide on your eye lids. They stay creamy for a while which gives you ample time for blending it properly. The finish is metallic for most of the shades….and the shade selection well…all I can say is that it’s not a shade selection…it’s more of a sea of shade. I picked up Bronze which no points for guessing is a bright bronze shade :p

These eye pencils are winners in the pigmentation department. However they do crease and tend to fade if you blend them too much so it is advisable to wear a primer underneath them especially if you have oily lids.

When I did use bronze with a primer….it fared pretty well and stayed in place for more than 5 hours but minus the primer it started creasing after 2 hours or so
As an eye shadow base, it worked wonders especially with my glitter eye shadows. They lasted longer on my eye lids with minimum fall outs and the color pay off obviously increased.
I did try to use it as a liner, but that proved to be a challenge thanks to the size of the tip. Also bronze is definitely not a liner color but yes if you use milk which is white or —– which is a black….you could use it on your waterline but using it on the lid as a liner might prove to be a little difficult.

Overall, I think they are worth all the hype. I love using bronze on its own and it works really well as a base as well. It obviously has to be coupled with a primer especially if you have oily lids. The only real issue with these pencils is the availability…NYX products are available to us but they are usually over-priced.
