NYX Powder Blush in Pinky: Review, Swatch and FOTD

Sephora has made my life so easy. It has brought so many cool products with it, so now I don’t have to waste my money on paying shipping for brands that are not available in India and the most important thing is that I can swatch the shade on my own and decide whether I want it or not instead of relying on swatches available on the website…we all know how reliable those swatches turn out to be.

The last time I went to Sephora I attacked the NYX counter. I went on a weekday so I had the luxury of taking my own sweet time to go through each product and obviously the result was a huge haul. One of the products that I love from this haul is my NYX Powder Blush in Pinky. It is one of the blushes that I have been wearing a lot lately and today I’ll tell you guys everything about it

Rs. 530 for 5.2 gms.

The NYX Powder Blush comes in a square black plastic packaging with a transparent lid. I like the packaging as you can see the shade inside. The packaging is sturdy as it passed my “I-am-clumsy-so-I-keep-dropping-my-makeup” test

The texture is smooth and I did not face any issues in blending it. I do find it a little chalky and can definitely see little bit of color flying around when you I swirl my brush in the pan. But overall it fares well and I don’t find it looking patchy on my skin.
Coming to the shade pinky…true to its name pinky is a Barbie pink blush with very small particles of shimmer. The shimmer is barely visible so it can be worn during the day without looking OTT. The shade itself is on the cooler side so if you apply it lightly, pinky gives a natural and healthy pink flush on the cheek. Pinky is really pigmented so you need to be careful while applying it. Always use a light hand when you are working with this shade otherwise you will end up looking like clown. Because a small quantity is enough for one use, I am sure it will be a while before I hit pan.

Staying power of this blush turned out to be pretty decent. It remained on my cheeks for almost 4 hours which is really great considering my oily skin. Another good thing about the blush is that the shimmer particles stay intact so you don’t have to worry about looking like a glitter ball once the blush fades. Also the shimmer particles are so minute and barely visible that after the blush fades they have a subtle highlighting effect on the cheeks.

The good things about the product:

  • Sturdy and user friendly packaging
  • Smooth texture that blends easily
  • The shade pinky gives you a natural and healthy glow color on the cheeks
  • Shimmer particles are very minute so appropriate for day wear
  • Pigmentation is great
  • Good staying power
  • Shimmer particles donot spread to the whole face
  • The quantity available will last a while

The not-so good things about the product:

  • Texture is a little chalky
  • Have to be careful with the quantity you use otherwise you might end up looking like a clown
  • Availability in India

I absolutely love this blush. The color is really pretty and office appropriate. A light wash of the color on my cheeks instantly brightens up my whole face and gives me a very healthy glow. My colleague kept bugging me the whole day to know why I blushing on the first day I wore it work. I know it’s a bit chalky but the overall quantity is pretty decent and I am definitely picking up some more shades.
