Rawleaf Cold Pressed Juices: Review

Now if you have been with me for like more than a month, you would know  that I am a total online shopping addict. From shoes, to makeup, to wardrobe essentials and sometimes even stationery….I like to tap the keys on my keyboard, pay online and get stuff delivered to my doorstep. Having just described my obsession with online convenience….can you imagine my joy to learn that there was a website that could deliver healthy meals to me…no going out and buying ingredients, no cooking…just ordering online…opening the packaging and well obviously the final step is everything yummy goes in my tummy. The website I am referring to is Rawleaf. in and what got me interested in it was the fact that they were offering cold pressed juices which is a very new thing in the Indian healthy food market.

Rawleaf is a brand of fresh packaged salads and lettuces. It is developed by Zingreens Farms Pvt Ltd who decided to diversify into packaged food armed with over 30 years of experience in the fresh produce business. I like the simple and no-nonsense layout of the website. They have clear categories, important details mentioned at visible areas on the homepage and items have crisp and simple description.

As I mentioned, I got interested to try the brand because they offered cold pressed juices. For those who aren’t aware of what we mean by cold pressed juices, well it is a basically a new technique of juicing that exerts just enough pressure to extract the juice while preserving its vitamins, enzymes, trace minerals and overall nutrients up to five times than what you get from a normal juicer.

I had read and heard a lot about the benefits of cold pressed juices but never got around to try them, so when I finally did see options on the website I just decided I needed ton try all of them. Each of the juices came in a 300 ml glass bottle and have no added sugar or preservatives.  The five options available were – Detox, Fuel Up, Purify, Trim & Zest.

Lets talk about them one at a time starting alphabetically with detox

Detox: Detox is a combination of beets, carrots, tomatoes, coriander, mint, ginger, amla & lemon. This was one of the thicker juices and has this rich maroon color thanks to the beetroot. There is no added sugar in the juices, it’s all fresh ingredients so for me it was a little too strong but my father who can live of beets if he has to, gulped the whole thing down in a matter of seconds and asked for more.  Basically, when they say detox they mean detox and don’t expect the taste that you usually get in those sweetened packaged fruit juices.

Fuel Up: Fuel up had pears, apples, pineapples and turmeric. This was one of my favorites and I was surprised that I liked it so much considering the fact that I hate the smell and taste of turmeric but this just tasted really good. This was also probably the sweetest juice out of all the five because of all the fruits that went into it.  Loved it 🙂

Purify: Purify was made out of apples, beets, carrots, cucumber, celery and lemon. This looked very similar to detox but was little less thick. I was a little hesitant to try it after my experience with detox but I am glad I did not let my dad have it all and tasted it because I liked it. I think the reason I did not like detox was because it was a little acidic in taste with all the beets, the ginger and the amla but in purify, the apples, cucumber and celery balanced the strong taste of beets with the little bit of sweetness.

Trim: Trim has green apples, cucumber, kale, spinach, celery and ginger. I really liked trim because it just tasted like the green smoothie I make at home. Another thing I liked about it was that it was not very sweet.

Zest: Zest contains pomegranate, watermelon , mint and this was definitely my favorite out of the five because I love each and every ingredient of this juice. Coincidentally I tasted it on a particularly hot day and the combination of watermelon and mint was tasted perfect. This was again a sweet juice because of all the pomegranate and watermelon that went into it.

Coming to the delivery, I did not face any issues with it. They have a policy that they deliver any orders placed after 5 p.m. on the next day. However, they ensured that my order reached me before 10 a.m the next morning and all the juices had been prepared fresh.

All in all, I  loved the juices and I am really happy to have discovered They stick to their claim of delivering fresh products, the service is prompt, the products are delicious and well we can all take a break from the unhealthy deliveries and try something that is good for our body. I was so happy with juices that I decided to try their salads as well so keep an eye on the blog as I will be reviewing them soon.
