Revlon Photoready BB Cream Skin Perfector : Review and FOTD

So the BB series continues….I told you that I picked two BB creams when I went to shopper’s stop a few weeks back so the next in the list is the Revlon Photoready BB cream Skin Perfector. I haven’t reviewed Revlon products for a while so I was pretty excited to pick this up…did my high hopes crash land to the ground or have I come across another amazing BB cream? Read on to find out 🙂

Price: Rs 550 for 3 ml
The Revlon BB cream comes in this silver plastic tube packaging that has nozzle opening and a black screw on cap.  I like the packaging…it kind of stands out. The cap stays in place so don’t worry about carrying it around. The tube is pretty flexible so the product comes out without any effort.

My experience with Revlon product has been that either they have a super amazing fragrance or it has no fragrance at all. This product has the later. I literally sniffed the products for minutes but nada…no fragrance.

The BB cream comes in three shadesLight, Light/Medium and Medium. I got light/medium which is a little light for my skintone but medium was too dark so I was not really left with an option .I definitely feel that with such a limited shade selection, finding the right shade will definitely be an issue.
The first thing that got my attention about this product is that it hydrates the skin by itself. I hate layering my skin and this just helps to skip a step. Texture wise it is a little thick so you have to work a little to blend it. The coverage is pretty sheer and I can clearly see the acne marks on my cheeks no matter how much I layer it up. It does even out the redness that I have around my nose and lips and gives a brightening effect to the whole face but that’s the extent of its coverage.

In terms of finish, it gives a nice dewy finish to the face. However that’s the last thing I want for my oily skin as this dewy effect makes my skin shine like the packaging that this BB cream comes in. I think people with normal and dry skin would appreciate this finish better.

Staying power is average. It stays on me for 3-4 hours but I definitely need to touch up after 2 hours as it provides no oil control whatsoever. Also, a peculiar thing about this BB cream is that after like 4 hours or so, it starts to fade…and by the time my day ends it gone from most part of my face.

Lets take a quick look at Yays and Nays:

Yays:

  • Cute and sturdy packaging
  • Hydrates the skin
  • Gives a natural glow to the skin
  • Has SPF 30
  • Would work well for normal and dry skin
Nays:
  • Limited shade selection
  • Almost zero coverage
  • No oil control
  • Average staying power of 3-4 hours
  • Fades after a few hours
  • Will not work for oily skin

Here’s how it looks on me:

You can see the acne marks on my cheek 🙁

My final verdict about the product is that buy it if you are looking for natural glow and only if you have a clean complexion . If you are looking for coverage or have very oily skin…look elsewhere.Personally, I feel this product works better as tinted moisturizer than a BB cream.
