Revlon PhotoReady Concealer : Review and Swatches

I have changed….yes I have.
From the girl who could sleep through anything…… I have become this insomniac who can’t sleep before 2 a.m. And then there is my alarm that goes off at 6 a.m….I get up, take a look at myself in the mirror…only to find that those faint dark circles I had 2 months back have started turning into permanent ones πŸ™
Thanks to this new bad habit…I went concealer shopping and bought some pocket friendly and some not so pocket friendly ones. Though the pocket friendly options were a little limited, the first one that I picked up out of the ones available was the Revlon Photoready concealer. Did I find what i was looking for? Read on to find out.

Price: Rs. 700 for 3.2 gms.
The Revlon Photoready Concealer comes in this stick packaging with a transparent cap. I find the packaging really smart and sleek. Even the shape of the bullet is very user friendly and makes application very easy as the shape contours the shape of my eyes really well.

There are three shades available- Light, Light Medium and Medium. I wish they had some more shades as 3 is definitely not a lot of options. I got 003 light medium which is definitely not the shade I was looking for but its the closest match available.

I was kind of hesitant to pick up a stick concealer because they tend to be little dry but I was really surprised when I swatched it. The texture is very creamy and even though at the first look it might appear to be thick , it blend with ease without any tugging or pulling.

Coverage is pretty great and it hides pigmented dark circles, marks and fine lines quite well.   I use it near the nose and mouth area to cover the redness and it blends in to give a very natural finish. The staying power however is average, 2 to 3 hours after that it starts creasing and settling into the fine lines. A few hours later, without touch it becomes very cakey.

Quick look at Yays and Nays

Yays:

  • Sleek and sturdy packaging
  • Creamy texture
  • Blends easily
  • Medium to high coverage
  • Gives a natural finish
  • SPF 20
  • Easily available
Nays:
  • Limited shade selection
  • Average staying power
  • Creases and settles in fine lines after 2-3 hours
Please excuse the tired eyes πŸ™
Overall, this concealer is not really on the top of my recommendation list. I was soo happy with the packaging, the texture and the finish but the creasing really cancelled out all the good things about it.
