Sleek Makeup Brow Kit Extra Dark : Review, Swatches & EOTD

What do you do when your relatives who are living abroad tell you they are flying down for your wedding….first…say thank you and love you and second…send them the list of makeup from international brands to do major savings on your international shipping. I did just that with my relatives flying down from London and got some really good stuff from Sleek Makeup. I have been trying to get my hands on a couple of Sleek products particularly the Sleek Makeup Brow Kit but I could never find the right shade 🙁 .This time however I guess the universe wanted me to have a nice haul from Sleek so I did end up finding the shade I wanted.

Price: $ 12.99 for 3.8 gms

The Sleek Brow Kit comes in a very small black case and includes a brow powder, a brow wax, a mirror, 2 applicators along with a pair of mini-tweezers. I like how compact yet sturdy the packaging is and it definitely makes it super travel friendly. I love any packaging that come with a mirror because they make touch ups on the go such an easy job. The tweezers and the applicators are a little to small for me and make application a little cumbersome so I use my one angular brush with this product but yes they can prove to be useful in case of any makeup emergencies :p

The brow kit is available in 4 shades – Light, Dark, Extra Dark, Black and the shade that was proving to be difficult to find was extra dark. I know alot of people fill up their eye brows with black kajal pencils but that is exactly the reason why you end up with unnatural looking eyebrows or the helga eyebrows. The shade of the powder and the wax in the extra dark variant has grey undertones which makes them perfect for indian skin tone.

Coming to the kit, the brow wax as I mentioned is a coffee brown shade product with very slight grey undertones. I usually fill my eyebrows with powder or pencils so i was a little nervous about how thick and heavy  the gel is going to feel but it has a very workable soft texture that doesn’t make the eyebrows hard or excessively sticky.

The wax has medium pigmentation which is pretty helpful in avoiding the helga situation and you can obviously build the color according to how thick or thin your eyebrows are and how strong you want your brows to look. I have very thin and skimpy brows so I usually need 2-3 swipes to get the color I want.

The powder on the other hand is slightly lighter in shade than the brow wax and is pretty sheer in terms of coverage. I love how the powder is really smooth and light but has no fallouts. The texture works really well with the wax, filling any gaps left by the wax is easy and it just ensures that the wax is set and stays in place without making the brows look unnatural.

                                                                                           L: Before R: After

I have been using this kit for a few weeks now and I have to say it has made the brow filling exercise a really easy thing to do. I love how the wax and the powder have such a light texture and give me a very natural finish without any fallouts or stiffness in the brows. The packaging is perfect , sleek , sturdy plus very travel friendly, pigmentation wise both the wax and the powder work well together and the shade is perfect for my skin tone. The only two issues I see with the product is that the applicators are a little to small for comfort so I need to carry my own brushes with it and the second is kind of obvious….availability in India. The good thing however is that Sleek does have international shipping and they do offer free shipping a couple of times n the year so you can keep an eye for such offers or you can just send a list to your relatives living abroad like I did :p.
