Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream in Fandango Purple: Review, Swatch and FOTD

Sleek is definitely a brand I can’t get enough of and I  leave no opportunity to get some stuff from them whenever there is an offer on the shipping or somebody is flying from the UK to India. The last time I did a mini haul from them, I finally got my hands on the Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream. They were creating quite a buzz so I obviously had to test them for you guys. Did it live upto the high expectations? Well read on and find out 🙂

Price: $7.49 for 6 ml

The Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream comes is a glass tube with a flattened sponge tip applicator. The sponge is a little stiff and has a flat tip which works well on the lips but creates a problem when you are trying to reach the edges. The rest of the packaging is pretty decent and quite travel friendly.

The liquid lipstick has very smooth wet texture that glides on your lips without any effort. The creamy texture dries up in a minute or so to give you a gorgeous matte finish that I am absolutely in love with. The liquid texture ensures that you get a smooth finish and never feel any kind of heaviness on the lips. The only thing that you need to be careful about  is that the product gives you a very small window for corrections and you have to let it settle down before you try to layer it up, otherwise they are chances that the product might bleed or feather. On the other hand, the really great thing about the lip cream is that it doesn’t budge, smudge, bleed or feather once it has settled down to that matte finish.

The shade Fandango Purple is a bit out of my usual color preferences and miles away from my comfort zone. I don’t know why but I always thought purple is not my color but it took just one lip cream to change that opinion. Fandango Purple is a bright purple with fuchsia undertones and trust me if you are like me and you feel that you can’t work with purple then get your hands on this shade and let it prove you wrong. The pretty fuchsia undertones help in brightening up the purple to make it the perfect shade for Indian skin tones.

The staying power is really good and it doesn’t budge for around 6-7 hours. You do need to touch up after meals because it does fade a little from the middle with what looks more of tint. It is a tad drying like all matte lip products so you need to prep your lips before it and moisturize your lips well before you apply it. I know wearing a lip balm under it might create a problem with the texture so a simple work around this problem is to apply loads of lip balm and then when you are about to apply the lip cream, just wipe of the excess.

Overall, this is a cherished addition to my huge collection of lip products and I find myself wearing it more often than I thought I would. I am in love with the shade and the quality is amazing. The only problem is availability and even though Sleek has international shipping, it is not cheap so all you can do is either wait for some kind of a discount or bug your relatives living in Europe.
