Sleek True Color Lipstick In Vixen: Review,Swatches and FOTD

A few months back when my wedding was right around the corner, I was going crazy over getting my makeup trousseau. The only thing that did not take too much time to sort out was to find the perfect red for my trousseau because I had one in my vanity already and the gorgeous red I am referring to is the Sleek True Color Lipstick in the shade Vixen.

Price: $7.49 for 3.5 gms.

Sleek True Color Lipsticks come in this really cute matte black chubby bullet packaging. When I had bought my first true color lipstick from sleek, I was kind of disappointed when I saw the size of the bullet and felt a little bit cheated but when you look at the lipstick you realize it is much thicker than the lipstick bullets so basically sleek has made up in width what they did not make up in height.  The packaging is really sturdy and travel friendly but because they all look-alike, you can’t distinguish the shade just by looking at it…reading labels is such a pain you know :p

The shade Vixen is a beautiful red with very light orange undertones. Even though most of the reds I own either have a slight blue or pink undertones, this shade probably my favorite because it is everything a red should be….bright but not too bright. Most lipsticks I have seen that have orange undertones tend to go a little overboard with the orange, thus giving the original red shade a not so flattering look….I guess that one of the major reasons that people shy away from such reds so much.

The texture of the lipstick is really creamy and they slide on the lips without much effort. You do have to prep your lips a little bit because in general that’s what you should do when you wear a strong color like red. The finish is glossy but not over the top. I do wish this shade came in matte finish but the shade itself is so gorgeous that I think I can overlook the fact that it does not have my favorite texture.

Pigmentation is one of the strong points of this range and even though Vixen has a creamy finish, all you need is a single swipe to get a good opaque layer of this pretty color on your lips. The staying power for all the true color lipsticks I have used so far has been pretty impressive and Vixen hasn’t disappointed me either. The shade stays on for a good 5-6 hours without any feathering or bleeding and when it starts fading, it leaves a nice red tint behind.

All in all, I love these lipsticks and well Vixen is definitely one of my favorite reds. I have no complains what so ever with this lipstick whether we discuss the quality or the color or the pigmentation and even the staying power….everything is to the point. The only issue is getting  your hands on these babies…..Sleek does ship to India and they have these free shipping offers every now and then so keep an eye out for them plus we have Luxola now or if you have relatives living in UK, just get them to pick some shades for you before their next visit to India.
