Sugar Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Pink Aloud: Review, Swatch and FOTD

I am so excited to review Sugar Cosmetics on the blog for the first time and I obviously had to start with my favorite makeup product – a lipstick. I have this never-ending love for matte lipsticks so I picked up the shade Pink Aloud from the Sugar Cosmetics Matte Lipstick Range

Price: Rs 499 for 3.5 gms

The Sugar Cosmetics Matte Lipstick comes in a classy black rectangular packaging. The packaging has the brand name on one side and the shade name at the bottom. It has a metallic lock mechanism which is pretty sturdy so you can travel with ease. The only challenge is that you need to look at the bottom of the tube every time you want to find a shade.

Texture & Product

The lipstick has a really creamy texture and slides on my lips like butter. I was kind of worried that this lipstick was not going to have the matte finish that I wanted but it does settle into a powder matte finish after a few seconds. The lipstick smells like vanilla beans but the fragrance is not overpowering and vanishes after a few seconds.

The shade Pink Aloud is exactly what the name sounds like, an in your face kind of a pink. The shade has red undertones so it doesn’t wash me out and I love how bright the color is.

My Experience

I was pretty sure I felt kind of cheated when I applied this lipstick for the first time. I thought I had bought another product that claimed to be matte but was going to be creamy and transfer all over the place. Thankfully, before I could make up my mind about ditching this range, the lipstick turned into a powdery matte finish.

I can’t describe the joy I felt when the texture changed. I love matte lipsticks and the way bright colors look in a matte finish. This color was accentuated due to the finish and I knew it had become my favorite lipstick for the foreseeable future.

The shade is quite pigmented and you just need a single swipe to get an opaque layer of color on your lips. It doesn’t transfer or bleed once it settles. You do need to wear a lip balm under it as matte texture and bright shades tend to accentuate lines and dry patches. The matte is not to drying so your lips don’t feel all stretchy and heavy.

This particular shade lasted on me for good 6-7 hours. It did fade a bit after meals but it is so pigmented that you barely notice a change. The lip shade leaves a heavy tint behind and you need an effective makeup remover to get rid of it.

Final Verdict

I am obsessed with this shade and range. This is my very first purchase from Sugar Cosmetics and I can clearly see why there is such a huge hype about this brand. I waited a month and wore this lip color regularly just to find a fault in it but I couldn’t find a thing I didn’t like about it.

The quality is great, pigmentation is absolutely amazing, the lipstick doesn’t bleed, transfer or feather, it stays on for hours and the shade selection is amazing. I have used so many luxury brands whose products can’t do half of the stuff I just mentioned and they cost a bomb. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good matte lipstick.
