The Secret Wishlist: Book Review

Hi everyone 🙂
I fell for Preeti Shenoy’s writing when I read Tea for Two and a Piece of Cake. So when I saw another book by her on Flipkart I quickly ordered it without giving it much thought. But after reading it I definitely wish I had.

The book is the story of Diksha. Diksha is a 35 year old housewife who is a mother of a nine year old boy, Abhay and married to Sandeep. Sandeep is a rich educated guy who provides everything to his family but the only problem is that Sandeep is too insensitive towards Diksha. As the story proceeds you discover how unhappy Diksha is in her marriage and why she got married to Sandeep.

The story somehow reminds me of the previous book but the last time I read Preeti Shenoy’s book, it was the fact that she had taken a cliched story and narrated it in a very different manner that had impressed me. But in this one, the author has not been able to do that.  The story is very weak, the narration  is slow and  you do tend loose interest after a certain point of time.

The only thing that I liked about the book was how it highlighted the very serious issue of marital rape. I have rarely seen people talking or writing about it but the author has been able to bring it to light in a very subtle manner.

So my final views about the book is that it is not really a book that I would suggest anybody as there is nothing in the book that is worth remembering.

Have you read any books by Preeti Shenoy?
