Wella Professionals Oil Reflections: Review

Remember I talked about visiting the Wella Studio like a month for a blogger’s meet. Well it was not just a blogger’s meet, it was also a session to introduce us to the new hair smoothening treatment by Wella- Oil Reflection. I have been using this product for a few weeks now and I think I am ready to share my views with you 🙂

Price: Rs 850 for 100 ml

What the company has to say about the product:
“This multi-sensorial oil, with macadamia seed oil, avocado oil and vitamin E, known as a natural anti-oxidant, instantly reveals the beautiful, natural reflections of hair color with a very lightweight technology that makes hair feel incredibly light and supple. High, glossy reflections: specifically designed to enhance the shine of Wella Professionals Colour, making it up to 86% more reflective. Wella Professionals Oil Reflections can be used in a number of different ways: Conditioning, Styling and Finishing”

The Oil Reflection therapy by Wella comes in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser. High five for the pump dispenser because obviously its easier to use the product however I am not happy with the glass bottle. I fail to understand why companies would prefer glass packaging for products that make your hands slippery. If you come to think about it, maybe they want you to drop the bottle and buy a whole new one all over again…does somebody else smell a conspiracy against us consumers :p. Anyhow, the point is that the glass bottle is accident prone and well not travel friendly so if you decide to take this along on the road, please transfer it to a more suitable container to avoid any mishap.

Coming to the serum, well as the name suggest it looks like a clear oil and has a super runny consistency. The product also has this amazing musky fragrance however its pretty strong when you first apply it so people with sensitive noses- beware !!

Serums and me have love hate relationship. I have very fine hair but they tend to be very frizzy and I have struggled with pesky flyaways since god knows when. The issue I face with most serums is that even though they control the frizziness, they end up weighing down my hair :(.
Thankfully, that’s not what happens when I use this serum. It looks pretty scary when you pump the product out of the bottle and I was pretty sure I would end up looking like a grease ball but to my surprise it worked quite well on my hair. It controls the frizz, gives a little bit of shine and my hair does feel more moisturised after applying it.

Even though the website claims that the product can be used as heat protectant while styling, I did not come across any ingredients in it that would do that job so not sure if this claim is true. Also, you do have to be a little careful with the quantity you are working with because like any other serum, too much of the product WILL weigh your hair down and that is not the products fault. For my waist length hair, a pump and half is more than enough but you obviously have follow a trial and error method to see what quantity suits you.
All in all, its a good serum. Its a good product and does what it claims.  I love the fragrance, it doesn’t weigh down my hair, controls frizziness and gives my hair a nice natural shine. Its a little on the expensive side but if you are looking for a good serum and don’t mind shelling out a few extra bucks…give it a shot 🙂
